WOLLONGONG captain Mat Campbell believes Glen Saville will have the freedom to play his natural game now that he is back with the Hawks.

Saville spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Hawks before joining the Sydney Kings on a two-year deal at the start of last season.

But the Kings crashed in June and Saville is back where it all started.

"Sav hasn't got anything to prove, but deep down, I think he'll come in really hungry," Campbell said.

"Last year I don't think he had the opportunities with the Kings to really shine in his spot.

"He still had a decent year, but he didn't have the opportunity with the ball as much as he will here, and I think he'll flourish in that situation.

"He went away with the Olympic team and had to sit there for a while, and (coach Brian) Goorjian didn't even play him in one game.

"Then he came back out and played well and showed he should've been playing.

"Rebounding-wise, he'll add that older head to the team as well. Just having that consistency in that three spot will be good, because that was something we struggled with last year."

Saville played his first game with the Hawks on Saturday against Adelaide.
